Audubon Birds of California App Reviews

Lots of great features all in one app, very useful on the trail... And a space saver if your device is low on storage and cant handle the full California assemblage... Great bargain for all it entails...

For someone new to identifying birds, this app is pretty helpful in doing so, with finding by shape, and decent photos and sounds. It gets stars for that, as it fares better than competing apps in those things. But its very poorly designed, with an interface clearly designed for the iPhone and not the iPad, and non-intuitive interactions (like tapping a small icon for zooming on photos). Its also buggy and unstable. The search bar on the home screen of the app simply doesnt function at all. They force you to make an account simply to log sightings, but after logging in it just immediately crashes, leaving a much wanted feature inaccessible!

Would of given it a 5 star but needs more info on the juvenile birds

Neither work properly. Everything else looks good, but without a proper search function it makes it hard to use.

Wonderful app. Easy to use. Loads of information. You can put in seasons and areas and zoom in on the birds of that time and place. Excellent

I usually love this app. Its keeps crashing at login. Ive reinstalled. Still crashing. Search doesnt work at all. Please fix.

Now I dont have to bring my bird books with me while traveling. Love keeping track of my sightings in the journal.

This app crashes immediately after you login. Very unstable and link to website also does not work. Before purchasing, pay attention to reviews dated in 2014. Anyone know how I can get my money back?

After loading, the icon stays gray with caption "installing" for days afterwards, never becoming functional. Waiting for the technical support to help me. BTW: the "Feedback" webpage is flaky - after I typed up all the info, filling all the blanks, doing capcha, it told me that "this page cant be found on the server" I had to re-do everything and it worked on a second try.

This is a good app except for not being able to email or post. Has most of the local birds and sounds. I would recommend this app.

I love having all this bird knowledge in my pocket! Unfortunately sometimes I mark a sighting for a bird and later realize it was actually a different bird I saw. Please fix the "delete" feature so it actually works! I want my journal to be accurate.

The app is called "Birds of California" yet the location pin starts in Vermont. That was annoying. Additionally the "pin" can only be moved a very short distance at a time. So if I want to list a bird sighting in CALIFORNIA, I have to start in Vermont and slowly move the pin bit by bit until I reach the west coast. Im not sure if this is a bug, but its really upsetting considering that I paid over $10 dollars for this app.

Super frustrating to use. Seems to have the birds I want to list, but cant get the "pin" to drop in the location I need it to. Hope they update it soon.

I found this wonderful easy to use guide just perfect for a beginning birder. It seems to have all of the birds I have seen and the information that goes along with it is so informative. I especially like the bird calls and that I can add my own bird photos. I am a proud member of the Audubon Society and I say "Bravo" to this bird guide!

I love birds and they fascinate me, but Im very I knowledgeable about them. This app helps overcome my knowledge inadequacy.

Unfortunately, the app has a lot of login bugs. It wont accept my Facebook login, although I got it to work the first time. But now it wont let me log back in with Facebook. I have tried deleting and re-installing, but no work. I lost my history of bird sightings. This is sad because I got the app specifically because I wanted to maintain a journal of my sightings.

We have a large canyon oak in our yard visited by many different kind of birds. I get to identify them by site it sound..including fooling some of them to think I am a kindred soul.

Has a lot of bugs. It wount let me register. Got to use it once and that is all.
